Joan Rivers moved out of ICU and into private room

Joan Rivers has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room, said a statement from daughter Melissa Rivers on Wednesday.

It read:

"My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable."

Joan is still in Mount Sinai hospital after she stopped breathing last Thursday during outpatient surgery on her throat.

Doctors lifted her out of a medically induced coma over the weekend.

Melissa confirmed on Tuesday that her mother is still on life support and thanked all the fans for the love and support that they have received over the past few days.

Five months ago, Joan Rivers joked about death on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. And in 2012, she wrote in The Hollywood Reporter:

"... in comedy, if you can tell a joke, they will gather around your deathbed."
