E! cancels 'Fashion Police' taping as Joan Rivers is taken out of coma
As expected, E! has canceled the taping of Fashion Police in New York City this week due to Joan Rivers being in critical condition at Mount Sinai hospital.
The upcoming episode of Fashion Police was scheduled to coincide with Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week 2014 which starts September 4 at Lincoln Center. The show airs every Friday.
Joan Rivers, who is the big star on the show, has been taken out of a medically induced coma and doctors will asses any damage to her brain on Tuesday.
The 81-year-old comedienne stopped breathing during an outpatient throat operation last Thursday. She is currently on life support in a stable but critical condition.
The outpouring of support from her fans has been incredible over the past couple of days.
Five months ago, Joan Rivers joked about death on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. It's her deadpan wit that has made her endearing (and controversial) through the years.
In 2012, she wrote in The Hollywood Reporter:
"... in comedy, if you can tell a joke, they will gather around your deathbed."
