Kris Humphries slams Bruce Jenner as Families Tweet Support
Just last night, the Bruce Jenner interview with Diane Sawyer aired on ABC, in which the Olympian revealed lifelong struggles with gender identity, and detailed the arduous transition to womanhood. The program, which was seen by 16.9 million viewers, became the most watched non-sports Friday show since 2003.
In the time since the interview has aired, Jenner's family has gone to social media to express their broad, unwavering support for their "role" model, and many of the tweets and posts have been really touching. Stepdaughter Kim Kardashian posted two photos to Instagram of she and Jenner, with one of the captions reading: "It might not always be easy but we support you no matter what! Your honesty has opened the doors for others to be courageous and live an authentic life! #respect #hero #family":
Meanwhile, son Brandon Jenner posted a photo of himself and Jenner, with the caption "Proud son":
Brody Jenner also added his support via Instagram:
But the most vocal among those in the chorus of support for Jenner were daughters Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner, and stepdaughters Khloe Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian, all of whom took to Twitter to let it be known where they stand:
so very proud of you, my hero.

Understandingly, this has been very hard for me. You will hear what I have to say when I'm ready to but...

..this isn't about me. I'm so proud of you, Dad. You are so brave. My beautiful Hero.

Couldn't be a more proud daughter. With courage and bravery, let's change the world. I am honored to stand by Bruce's side and support him.

However, not everyone was so supportive. Kim Kardashian's ex-husband, Kris Humphries, sent out a fairly insensitive tweet shortly after the interview aired.
“Man, I’m glad I got out when I did,” the tweet from Kris read, carrying the hashtag "#Gottadoyou" (because apparently "doing you" means "feeling compelled to tweet out every ignorant thing that comes to mind"). In lieu of linking to the actual tweet, here's my favorite response to what Kris wrote:
@KrisHumphries You're disgusting and they are and always have been too good for you. Go and not be famous somewhere else please.

I know not everyone agrees with Jenner's transition, but I just found what Kris wrote to be an exceedingly lame thing to write. The classy thing to do would have been to keep his negative thoughts bottled up. Sure, the Jenner and Kardashian families have been packed with drama over the years, but not every aspect of that drama demands a snarky comment, especially when it's concerning something as sensitive as Jenner's transition.

I don't know, maybe I'm being overly sensitive. This is, after all, my first time commenting on Jenner in all my years writing here, since I've mostly left that to Rickey, who's always followed it far more diligently. But that interview last night really moved me, because it spoke to the larger issue of acceptance in our society.
Not everyone feels they were born in the body in which they were meant to be born, and not everyone gets to be accepted, even if they are. That's why I think what Jenner is doing is so brave, especially considering he's such a public figure. At the risk of getting too mushy, I was just really moved by the interview. Just as I'm sure all this support from his family has moved Jenner.
