Alex Preston and Jena Irene voted to evict Sam Woolf on 'American Idol' - Report
American Idol introduced a last minute twist in the results show on Thursday.
The Top 5 was given the choice to save the eliminated contestant in exchange for having a double elimination next week. The decision should be unanimous and they were asked to vote "yes" or "no" in secret.
The final tally was 3 yeses and 2 nos. And Sam Woolf was eliminated.
LA reporter Chris Trondsen interviewed the Idols after the show and he revealed that Alex Preston and Jena Irene voted "no" and effectively voted for Sam Woolf to go home.
This is a bit upsetting since Alex is Sam's best friend on the show. It's no surprise that Alex immediately went on the defensive on Twitter saying that the twist was not cool and didn't make sense. (So maybe he didn't understand the rules or didn't realize that someone might actually go home tonight instead of none?)

Jena Irene meanwhile tweeted earlier in the show saying that she was "confused".

Needless to say, this was a crappy twist since it only showed that two of the contestants this season are certifiable assholes (see below). I mean what's one more week to keep their "happy family" on the show? Apparently, they would rather have one dream extinguished now than later -- it didn't matter that it was Sam. They knew someone would go home -- one of their Idol family!
As a scorned Sam Woolf fan I strongly suggest that people reconsider support for some of these contestants. They showed their true colors tonight. Totally not cool... and SELFISH.
Caleb and Jessica for the finale!

Just look at Jena and Alex's guilty faces:

See??? So gracious until the end! Our real American Idol! Go SAM!!!
Personal Update: OK I'm fine now. I'm over it. This was an awful Twist that was bad for everybody. In trying to spice up the show, it only made the contestants look bad.
Update: American Idol had its WORST RATINGS last night and least watched show ever, under 7 million viewers.
