Join us for the live blog and recap of The X Factor USA Live Show #2! PauCharoWednesdays back y'all - Top 12 edition!
Who will be the standouts!? This.is.it
The Top 12 sing a motown medley. Demi's girls killed me with the vocals. PauCharo's Boys are boring me slap to death. The Overs, even Lillie McCloud - I'm not feeling it. Sweet Suspense catches attention, as well as Alex & Sierra. This shows Restless Road's weaknesses though.
And here we go! ..wait...they are bringing someone back....how is it. JOSH LEVI IS BACK OMG!!!!! YESSS!!!!!
And JOSH LEVI is up first! (view performance)
- Mario surprises he and his mother and the same spill that they have Melanie and Diamond.
- He is singing "Who's Loving You" by the Jackson 5. He's definitely trying to showcase his vocals this time around..and it is working. The kid does have some chops, even though it is his aura that is his strong spot. Besides, who doesn't love a "Who's Loving You" cover?
- Demi says he made a comeback and she is extremely impressed. She says he showed her he will have a long career. Kelly Diana Ross loves him as well. Simon says he went from "zero to hero." Lawd. I'm tired of that phrase. But Simon said he proved himself to be one heck of a singer this week. GO JOSH!!
- PauCharo says she was feeling so empty after the last show and since she was given opportunities when she was young, she knows Josh can do it! He came back with a bang! #TeamJoshLevi
RACHEL POTTER IS up next (view performance)
- She is singing "This Little Heart of Mine." She's a Nashville girl, always wanted to be a country singer! Country singers can do Motown well! She says grew up listening to it.
- This is just too much country-fied for me. She could have kept some of the Motown feel. Still don't get the hype but I guess she's singing well. Actually she is!
- Demi says she has come such a long was since 4 Chair Challenge. Simon actually thought it was horrible and didn't get it. He said she made a beautiful song insane. I kind of agree. Kelly Diana Ross said she worked so hard and deserves to be here!
CARLOS GUEVARRA is up next! (view performance)
- Apparently he is from Lexington, South California. LOL. With grey smoke he is singing "What's Goin On" by Marvin Gaye.
- When he's not doing the gritty thing with he voice he doesn't really sound too good. I would have been mad if these guys would still be here and Josh Levi wouldn't.
- Kelly thought it was a cool choice for his voice but felt like he could have done better or a different song. Simon says he didn't have a moment and that he has to be incredible and quite good is not enough. If he stays around next week, Carlos wants to blow them away.
RESTLESS ROAD is up next (view performance)
- They don't really click for me. I hate to say it, but I like the doucheband of Emblem3 better than them. They are singing "Easy Like Sunday Morning."
- Their vocals really just don't do it for me. Apparently Simon REALLY loves it though. Demi said that Simon killed it with this choice and he did a good job. PauCharo says they are special and have special magic. Kelly Diana Ross-Rowland was not expecting the tight harmonies. I didn't hear them. She says the lead should be stronger. Simon says that they have hard work, charisma and star power. He believes they will be in the finals.
ELLONA SANTIAGO is up next (view performance)
- Will this inTENsity remnant go further than her fellow TEN-er Arin Ray? It's a struggle for her because she is currently studying for her SAT's! She's singing "Baby Love!"
- Ellona better work. For some reason most people's vocals are falling flat this week. But for the most part, Ellona is still sanging!
- Kelly Diana Ross calls her powerhouse and commends her for her academics as well. Simon says she nailed it! Simon says she has killer eyes, she is focus, determined and wants to win! He loves working with people like her. Demi says she turned it out! Get it Ellona!
JEFF GUTT is up next (view performance)
- We get the single dad spiel again. Do y'all really think that Jeff will get the "All-American" Tate Stevens vote? He's singing "Say You Say Me." I mean it's alright. Kelly thinks he is killing it right now, acting like Christina Aguilera did with Jacquie Lee.
- PauCharo loves the energy....she loves it. Simon calls it outstanding and the best of the night. He even said it was effortless. Kelly Diana Ross is proud of him for doing this while coping with being without his son. He hopes he represented Motown well! He's from Detroit!
ALEX & SIERRA are up next (view performance)
- They are doing "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." Sierra is stressed out but Alex is trying to be her rock. They jump in the pool together with clothes on. Cheeeeeez.
- They are about to kill it. I know. They are. Sierra better SING. Hand sass. Work. Halfway through the song the hype just dies down for me. They peaked during the first part. Welp. They'll still great great feedback. The crowd is cheering so much. They are the front runners!
- PauCharo says they make her sweat. She wants them to kiss. Demi admits they didn't think the were that great last week - but says they were great this time! Simon is proud!
KHAYA COHEN is up next (view performance)
- She's doing it for her dad. Demi says Motown is HER week. I agree. She should slay this performance. Her dad is here for her this week but he is big on school for her. She wants to prove to her dad and America she belongs on the stage.
- She is singing "My Girl" Yes, Khaya! I love it! SHE BETTER DO THE DANG THING! Ultimate favorite of the night. Khaya did that! I love her! Kelly Diana Ross said she almost threw her pen at her because she did so good! Simon says she was like Amy Winehouse. Her vocals are fantastic. Demi says her vocals could be the best in the competition!
- I told y'all from Day 1 Khaya was gonna show up & show out and she did!
CARLITO OLIVERO is up next (view performance)
- I swear EVERYONE couldn't have listened to Motown growing up.
- I'm actually liking Carlito's vocals this time around. He's tone it down like Josh Levi did. The song choice, "Stop In the Name Of Love" is actually good too. Woah!? Am I actually liking this? What!? Yeah.
- Kelly Diana Ross says he trails off the key sometimes and needs to be more aware of that. Simon said it reminded him of a dream he had last night. It wasn't as good as last week. He says it was girly and over-theatric and he is better than that. I'm sorry, I liked him more last week. Carlito says he put his heart into the song and tried to switched it up and hopes it was enough for America to see.
LILLIE MCCLOUD is up next (view performance)
- Lillie is freaking out that after Simon says she is dated - they have Motown week. Kelly tells her she doesn't think she is dated and go with a classic look
- I'm so glad she is toning down the theatrics and some of the annoying parts of her voice. Right as I type this she starts back with it a little bit..but not as much. She's working it! Go Lillie!!
- Demi says her voice is incredible, she looks like a star, and her stage presence is incredible. She is getting tons of cheers. Demi still thinks it was dated and she wanted her with an upbeat song. Kelly Diana Ross gets ratchet, gets up and dares Simon to say something. He thought it was absolutely fantastic. He thinks there is more to come. PauCharo calls her a goddess!
SWEET SUSPENSE is up next (view performance)
- If their potential and hype rise up to the competition with their performance they could really do it. They will sing "You Keep Me Hanging On." I wish they had a different song. Summer is the most experience and Simon says she remains gluing them together.
- THEY ARE IN A CAGE. KILL IT GIRLS...with attitude. They are doing good on harmonies really good - but I wish they would sing more solo parts.
- PauCharo LOVES THEM. Demi says they are absolute stars. The rest of the judges are so pleased as well. Sweet Suspense is showing out in this competition so far. I hope they keep it up.
RION PAIGE is up next (view performance)
- Demi calls her a little ray of sunshine. I love Rion! I want her to do so well!
- She sings "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Rion is such an old soul to me! Its not as good as last week to me and Simon doesn't look impressed. Eek. She's doing good though!
- Kelly loves her voice but is not sure she loved the rendition of the song. Simon says she pulled it off though and Simon says it took her back to where she should have been. He prefers it to last week. Demi says it came off as genuine and she is proud!
TIM OLSTAD closes the show (view performance)
- For some reason PauCharo calls him "The People's Choice Boy." Wut. He wants to show America he is NOT a funeral director.
- I think this is a very smart song choice though for him. His vocals are good this time but he is kind of over-burning it at times. His confidence has definitely went through the roof since first starting the competition. Was he really nervous before?
- Demi says it sounded like a really really good karaoke song. Demi doesn't see him moving on unless its with AC radio. Kelly Diana says he is an incredible singer and since he is, she is expecting more. She says HE needs to be the person that they focus on before all of the other things. Simon really liked it though. Interesting..... Simon says he knows who he is..and he is Donny Osmond. Simon does say that he needs to understand what kind of artist he needs to be, recommending Josh Groban. He likes that he took their criticism well.
Well that's it for me. A special thanks to PauCharo for doing her thing like every Wednesday, and this week's special guest, Kelly Diana Ross-Rowland.
VOTE JOSH LEVI AND SWEET SUSPENSE.
