The X Factor UK Live Show 7 Results for 11/23/2014 (Recap + Video)

Welcome to the recap and results for The X Factor UK 2014 Live Show 7 on Sunday, November 23, 2014! The Top 7 competed on Whitney vs. Elton Night, and it was a pretty solid night of performances, considering the tired nature of the theme. However, because this was a double elimination week, one act was eliminated on Saturday night.

Once all the votes were tabulated, Only the Young was eliminated in 7th place. This left us with six finalists competing to advance to the Top 5. Before the results, get caught up on the performances by clicking on the links below:

Lauren Platt, "How Will I Know"
Ben Haenow, "I Will Always Love You"
Andrea Faustini, "I Have Nothing"
Fleur East, "I'm Every Woman"
Stevi Ritchie, "I'm Still Standing"
Stereo Kicks, "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me"

Who will be eliminated tonight? The bottom 2 vote-getters will compete in the sing-off, and the judges will decide who finishes the competition in 6th place!

It's time to face the music!

RECAP

-After introductions, we kick things off with the Top 6 singing "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting," and it's an amusing performance, if nothing else. No one really stood out except for Andrea, who really needs to sing more uptempo material. Seriously, he sounded downright STELLAR in his section of the song.

-We then recap last night's show, with backstage comments: Lauren beams while walking backstage with her brother, saying the Platts are taking over. Both Mel B and Cheryl talk about how much they loved what Lauren did, and how much she deserved the positive comments she received. Ben, meanwhile, says he's happy with the risk he took on "I Will Always Love You," even if the judges didn't agree with it. Andrea calls this his biggest week, and says he enjoyed singing "I Have Nothing". Louis reiterates Andrea is the people's diva, while Simon adds that Andrea + Whitney is a combination that can't go wrong.

Fleur is bursting with excitement that her sister and mother got to be onstage with her, while Louis states that Fleur does everything. Stevi takes pillow feathers out of his hair while Cheryl notes how entertaining Stevi is, whether you think he's crazy or not. Lastly, the boys of Stereo Kicks are thrilled that Mel B now sees them as a proper group and knows them as individuals. Louis, for his part, feels his boys can go all the way.

LABRINTH performs!

-Labrinth performs his new single, "Jealous", and I absolutely LOVE this song. It's a gorgeous, heartfelt ballad, and I thought Labrinth did a great job with it. The string section was like the icing the cake of what's one of the best songs any guest has brought to the results show this season. I can't stress enough how much I love this song. This was my first time hearing it, and it was essentially love at first listen.

-After the performance, Dermot asks Labrinth who his favorite is. Big surprise: it's Andrea! Yeah, dude is totally winning this thing. Ultimately, I think the finale is Andrea vs. Ben vs. Fleur, which could be a terrific final since Fleur and Ben are pretty much the only two who can stop the inevitable Andrea victory, in my opinion.

RESULTS, PT. 1

-Before the results, Dermot announces that next week's theme will be The X Factor Jukebox, meaning the song choices will be up to the viewers, who will pick from a list of songs using The X Factor app.

But now, it's time for the results...

The first act through to next week is...STEREO KICKS!

The second act through to next week is...FLEUR EAST!

The third act through to next week is...BEN HAENOW!

The fourth and final act through to next week...will be revealed later in the show. UGH! They really need to cut this out.

That said, I can't fathom a bottom 2 that has Andrea in it. The only possible way I could see him landing there is if people got his number wrong, since the recap of the numbers for viewers at home went from "02" for Ben to "04" for Andrea, since Only the Young was eliminated. Perhaps fans only remember the order Dermot read the numbers in, assumed Andrea's number was "03", and proceeded to text/call in a bunch of votes that ended up not counting? That would be the only rationale I could fathom for why he would be in the Bottom 2. Either way, it's likely going to be Lauren vs. Stevi tonight, and although I love Stevi, any other result but him going home would be the wrong outcome.

-Back from break with a video of Sir Bob Geldof thanking viewers for their support on the Band Aid 30 single, and asking for their help to keep this all going. Dermot then interviews the judges about the results. Louis was shocked that Only the Young went home last night, saying he thought they were safe for "another two weeks" at least (man, dude must have been SUPER confident in his act). Mel B calls this season a rollercoaster ride, since you never know what's going to happen from one week to the next. For her part, Cheryl isn't willing to make any predictions about the finale. Nor is Simon. Dermot notes that Simon said in the backstage video that he didn't want anyone to go home because he likes all the acts left. But Simon amends his statement, saying he does want someone to go home now, although he's not going to say whom. Would anyone be surprised if it were Stevi? I get that he's Simon's act, but up against either Lauren or Andrea? I just can't see how Simon could still vote for his own act, in good conscience, and risk some foolishness sending it to Deadlock (i.e., Where Bad Things Happen).

TAKE THAT performs!

-Take That is here to perform their new single, "These Days". It's a lively track, and kind of catchy, actually. I mean, it's not my cup of tea, but the guys sound great, and I do love the staging, with the giant blocks and retro look, plus all the confetti. I also love having Gary Barlow back, even if just as a performer. After the performance, Dermot interviews the guys about what it's like to be a three-piece, before asking who their favorite act in the competition is. Gary says Fleur, while the others are split between Fleur and Andrea. It's nice to see some other names getting thrown out there now.

RESULTS, PT. 2

-So it's down to Lauren, Stevi and Andrea.

The fourth and final act definitely returning next week is...LAUREN PLATT!

OMG! ANDREA IS IN THE BOTTOM 2?!?!?!

I'm literally stunned. It's Andrea vs. Stevi in the sing-off.

BOTTOM 2 SING-OFF

-Andrea is up first, singing "Stop" by Sam Brown (or is it by Jamelia?), and it's one of his best vocals in weeks. And I say that as someone who has loved his vocals for weeks now. This is downright terrific. He gets a standing ovation from Cheryl and Mel B. Hell, I would have been standing too, after that.

-Stevi sings "This Is the Moment" from Jekyll & Hyde, and it's probably his best overall vocal performance. Seriously, this is genuinely great, and I was definitely impressed. I mean, it's not even close to Andrea. But if this is where Stevi's run ends, he can hold his head high, because he'll have gone out proving he can sing. He gets a standing ovation from Cheryl, as this suddenly becomes tricky.

FINAL RESULT

Mel B congratulates them both for such an incredible sing-off, giving Stevi props for delivering a great vocal. But she says the two singers are miles apart, and the one on top is Andrea.

Mel B votes to send home STEVI RITCHIE!

Cheryl doesn't know why Andrea is in the Bottom 2, and admits that while Stevi sang beautifully, she has to do what's right.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini votes to send home STEVI RITCHIE!

Simon says both acts sang well, but Stevi showed more passion. He feels people have fallen in love with Stevi, so he's going to stand by him.

Simon votes to send home ANDREA FAUSTINI!

Louis congratulates Stevi on his best performance, but says he's loved Andrea from Day 1, and loves him even more now so...

Louis Walsh votes to send home STEVI RITCHIE!

And with that...

STEVI RITCHIE IS ELIMINATED FROM THE X FACTOR UK!

-Stevi calls this experience a dream, and says he never would have imagined he'd get this far. He thanks the public for voting for him, Cheryl for bringing him back, and his "best friend and mentor" Simon Cowell.

I'm going to miss Stevi a lot, but this was the right result between the two. That said, I have no idea how Andrea landed in the Bottom 2, other than to think that he's maybe not as popular as we've assumed. Has he been topping the vote each week or just getting by? I think this Bottom 2 appearance is a major boost for Ben and Fleur, as they're now looking like possible winners. That said, it's not impossible to win The X Factor after a Bottom 2 appearance (although James Arthur is the only one), so it's not the least bit impossible that Andrea could still win this thing. If anything, his popularity could receive a major boost. But this is a big blow.

What do you think of the results? Did the right act go home? Was this even the right Bottom 2? Sound off in the comments! Until next week, thanks for reading!

GOODNIGHT!
