X Factor UK - Contestants Tae Blondo Allege Producer Set Up
The X Factor UK 2012 contestants Tae Blondo allege producers set them up to fail during their audition process.
Girl group, Tae Blondo claim The X Factor producers told them what song to sing and even what to wear, just to set them up for guest judge "Scary Spice" a.k.a Melanie Brown to tear them down during their briefly televised audition for the 2012 season of The X Factor U.K.
Rumors of producer manipulation have followed reality singing competitions around for years, but this is the second such accusation of the year for the British X Factor and they have only aired one episode so far. Pink impersonator Zoe Alexander has also made claims that producers told her what to sing in order to set her up to be torn down by the judges.
Per The Sun, “Mel told us ‘You look like you belong in a Playboy mansion’ and said the song was dated. Yet they were the two things they knew we would do. The producers also asked us to talk about Mel B, then edited it to look as if we were scared.”
Executive producer Richard Holloway still maintains that the final decisions on what to sing, wear, etc remain with the contestants. He claims that they have auditioners bring in five things they want to sing and they council them, but in the end it is up to the acts to choose what they want to do.
