X Factor finalists to record 5 different winner songs

MTV UK is reporting that all 5 semi-finalists on The X Factor (Cher Lloyd, Mary Byrne, Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction) are recording different songs as their "winner's single".

How interesting! I hope One Direction gets a great single. I think they should win, although Matt Cardle looks like the favorite at the moment with Rebecca Ferguson.

From MTV UK:

Simon Cowell has allegedly picked five different winners' songs for each of The X Factor finalists for the first time in the show's history, according to reports.

The Mirror has claimed that the music mogul is ditching old methods of getting the contestants to record the same track for their winners single, after last years champ Joe McElderry failed to hit the Christmas No.1 spot with his cover of the Miley Cyrus song, The Climb, following an internet campaign against him.

Cowell is said to have already sent Cher Lloyd, Mary Byrne, Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson and his act, One Direction, into the studio to lay down their vocals for the songs, with reports suggesting that they will shoot their first solo videos in the next few days.
