Younger Than Yesterday is eliminated from THE X FACTOR AUSTRALIA 2014!
Well, I wasn't surprised by the final result, since Younger Than Yesterday were on borrowed time, and Dannii was definitely going to have those guys in the Bottom this week. But I am a bit surprised by the Bottom 2 showing for XOX. Sure, it wasn't their strongest performance or anything, but I didn't think it was Bottom 2 material. That said, I can see why they landed there, since a manufactured group has to work twice as hard as a group that came in already formed, since there's already a feeling that they took the spot of a more deserving group simply because the Powers That Be wanted to pat themselves on the back for making their own original group they could put forward as an X Factor success story like One Direction. There are still people who are more than a little frustrated that Younger Than Yesterday got in over a group like Paris Inc., or that they outlast Trill last week. If anything, the past two weeks of results, coupled with the wildcard vote, suggest that Dannii really didn't make the right choices at Home Visits.
That said, I never disliked the guys, but I couldn't really think of anything they offered to the competition beyond energy. And even then, it's not like it was ever anything unique (hell, Jason Heerah brought WAY more energy to his awesome performance this week). It'll be interesting to see how XOX bounces back from this, since just last week, social media had them pegged as an act that could go all the way. Is that still the case? Well, given the Samantha Jade Principle (Bottom 2 early on...and then again...and again...until she went on to win), I'd say anything is possible.
But what do you think of the result? Did the right act go home? Was this even the right Bottom 2? Sound off in the comments!
