Barry Southgate is eliminated from The X Factor Australia!

This result is kind of indicative of the problem with this season of The X Factor Australia: terrible song choices. Is there any reason Dannii couldn't have just given Barry "Mirrors" to begin with, instead of saddling him with, of all songs on the planet Earth, "California Girls"? I'm not really saying Barry could have won this thing, but I always felt he was better than any of his song choices allowed him to show (although his flailing movements on his sing-off performance were really distracting). However, he was damned by the songs he was given, much like how Ronan seems obsessed with giving Jai cutesy songs to perform while Redfoo is making it his mission to mostly make us forget just how awesome Jiordan Tolli is. I really hope the mentors start collaborating with their acts a bit more on song choices. Getting input from the contestants worked out wonderfully for Ronan and Taylor Henderson this week, and I'd love to see a bit more of that in the future. I get the feeling that we're only seeing the tip of what a lot of these acts are capable of doing.

What do you think? Who has potential that we just haven't seen yet? Which act is suffering the worst from their mentor's choices? And was this the right result? Sound off in the comments!
