World Cup Fever

I played 8 hours of bridge today (waaaa!) with my geriatric friends up in Washington Heights. I felt a little bit guilty -- you know, some of them are sick and all -- and I felt that it wouldn't hurt to socialize, even if I had other stuff to do. Although 8 hours was just too much. I think I should set boundaries next time -- my mind is mush.
That being said, I missed the World Cup festivities today. And what a day!
Portugal eliminated Iran, 2-0. Ghana shocked the Czech Republic, winning 2-0. And the U.S. tied Italy 1-1, in an "ugly" game where 3 players were ejected. Wow. It was the most important game in U.S. soccer history. This is all exciting since the U.S. now needs to beat Ghana on June 22, and for Italy to defeat the Czech Republic to make it to the next round.
This tournament is full of testosterone. Love it. I'm now trying to catch up watching replays on the Spanish-language Galavision.
