'Workaholics' Star Anders Holm Joins 'How I Met Your Dad'

Anders Holm is headed to How I Met Your Dad.

The Workaholics co-creator and star has joined the How I Met Your Mother spinoff as Gavin, the soon-to-be ex-husband of series lead Sally (Greta Gerwig).

The role is recurring, so it shouldn't affect his role on Workaholics, which is one of the most popular shows on Comedy Central.

Holm joins a cast that includes Drew Tarver (Newsreaders), Krysta Rodriguez (Smash), Nick D'Agosto (Masters of Sex), and Andrew Santino (Mixology). In my opinion, it's wise for the show to largely avoid huge name actors for the cast, as it allows the show to focus on story and comedy without the distraction of some impossibly big name gaining the spotlight. Although, to be fair, Neil Patrick Harris worked like gangbusters on the parent series, so it should be interesting to see if this show produces a similarly huge, breakout character.
