Women's Cross Country Mountain Bike - London 2012 Olympics - Results
Georgia Gould competed for the United States in the Women's Cross Country Mountain Bike race at the London 2012 Olympics. It was an exciting race, with lots of twists and turns (literally).
Here are your medal results:
The Women's Cross Country Mountain Bike race takes place on a mixed terrain course that includes dirt and gravel roads, hills, hair pin turns, rocks and forest paths. This event was one of my favorite of the racing events at the London games. The variety of terrain on the course, interesting scenery and mix of speed, skill and endurance required to complete the course made for an entertaining event.
American Georgia Gould was right in the mix for a good part of the race, but in the last couple of laps, Julie Bresset of France distanced herself from the chase pack. Gould and Sabine Spitz of Germany would make a fair attempt to catch up to Bresset, but she was just too far ahead. Bresset would go on to capture the gold, while Spitz and Gould would claim silver and bronze.
Results:
Gold: Julie Bresset - France
Silver: Sabine Spitz - Germany
Bronze: Georgia Gould - United States
Congratulations to all the medal winners!
