To say that Team USA was heavily favored to win this game would be a major understatement.  France would win their first medal, a silver, in women's basketball.  France seemed to consider their emotional upset victory over Russia to make it to the gold medal round to be their gold medal victory and were even quoted as saying they were going to go ahead and party because Australia was the only team who could possibly beat the U.S. team.  The final score was 86 to 50.

Australia beat Russia to win the bronze.

Results:

Gold: United States

Silver: France

Bronze: Australia

Congratulations to all the medal winners!
