Lifetime has dipped a toe in witchcraft, and now the network is ready to jump all-in.

Witches of East End, a drama about a family of witches living in the secluded seaside town of East Haven, has been renewed for a second season by Lifetime. The series stars Emmy Award-winner Julia Ormond, Mädchen Amick, Jenna Dewan Tatum and Rachel Boston and is based on Melissa de la Cruz’s New York Times best-selling novel of the same name.

“With its great story telling and amazing cast, Witches of East End is leading a full-blown witch renaissance,” said Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime. “The show’s perfect mix of premium execution with content that is in the zeitgeist is drawing new viewers to Lifetime and we’re very excited to be bringing it back for a second season.”

The mysterious Beauchamp family includes free-spirited artist Joanna (Ormond) and her two grown daughters, wild-child bartender Freya (Dewan Tatum) and shy librarian Ingrid (Boston), neither of whom knows of their magical birthright. Freya is engaged to her dream man, wealthy playboy Dash Gardiner (Eric Winter), but soon finds herself drawn to Dash’s brooding, enigmatic brother Killian (Daniel DiTomasso). Meanwhile, Joanna’s long-estranged sister Wendy (Amick) shows up with a warning that could change the Beauchamps’ fate forever. Witches of East End also co-stars Jason George and Academy Award nominee Virginia Madsen.

The thirteen-episode second season of Witches of East End will air in 2014 on Lifetime.
