Will Katie Couric or Meredith Viera head back to 'Today?'
Could Katie Couric be headed back to her old stomping grounds, as an anchor on NBC's The Today Show?
Couric is in talks to fill-in for Samantha Guthrie while she is on maternity leave. However, it Couric's stint turns into a ratings hit, she may be asked to come back full time.
Couric began on Today in 1991 when she filled in for Deborah Norville on maternity leave and then replaced her when Norville didn't return. She remained on the show until leaving to be the anchor of the CBS Evening News in 2006, remaining until 2011. Couric has headed her own Disney-distrbuted syndicated talk show since 2012 and the show will end this month.
Meredith Viera (who took Couric's spot on Today when she left in 2006) is also being considered. Viera already works as a special correspondent for NBC and has a NBC-distrubted talk show to start in the Fall.
Are you team Couric or team Viera? I think Meredith will be winning regardless, so I'm hoping Katie can catch a break.
