Will Ferrell Confirms 'Zoolander' Sequel Is in the Works
Will Ferrell recently had a hit on his hands with Anchorman 2, but now he's returning for a sequel to another modern comedy classic fans have been clamoring for since the release of the original.
In an interview with joblo.com, Ferrell confirmed that not only is a Zoolander sequel is in the works, but he will also reprise his role as villainous fashion designer Mugatu.
"We are actually supposed to do a read-through of a sequel script soon, and Mugatu is a part of it," he said.
Of course, a sequel to the 2001 comedy has reportedly been in the pipeline for ages. However, it's had trouble getting off the ground due to the departure of actor/writer/director Justin Theroux over scheduling conflicts. Now, it's looking like star Ben Stiller will be taking over in the director's chair himself, in addition to reprising his role as all-purpose supermodel Derek Zoolander.
In the past, Stiller has said that any potential sequel would likely revolve around an aging Derek and Hansel (Owen Wilson) struggling to maintain relevance in the changing world of modern fashion.
So what do you think of a possible Zoolander sequel? Good idea or ridiculously unnecessary? Sound off in the comments!
