Why American Idol Is Better Off Without Simon Cowell

Some controversy this morning from the NY Daily News (via MJ's Big Blog) about Simon Cowell (or his reps) getting a blog "banned" for writing "why American Idol is better off without him".

Hans Ebert says an SEO company specializing in "reputation management" had his blog suspended on WordPress.com. Hmmm... There are so many bad things written about Simon on the Internet - I wonder why he would target Mr. Ebert.

From Why American Idol Is Better Off Without Simon Cowell (Hans Ebert):

As someone said over dinner last night and to which all agreed, “We’ll all tune in, and that’s the whole point, right?” And it is. The Fat Lady hasn’t sung, millions of people have no idea of the ins and outs of “American Idol” and who said what about this person and that person and- this is key- don’t give a rat’s arse about any of it. They wish to be entertained for an hour and this they will. I’ll bet my gonads on that.

Will the show find the next Bob Dylan? No. Will it find the new Lady Gaga? Doubt it. Will it find the new Justin Bieber? More than likely. Will it find someone completely new and different and commercial without being icky, tacky, cutesy and girlie like Korea’s Wonder Girls and singing “Nobody, but Jew?” Definitely.
