White Collar - Season 4 Spoilers

White Collar's loyal fans will remember that, at the end of season three, Neal fled New York City after learning the intentions of Agent Kramer. Here are a few spoilers about the upcoming season four, with help from Matt Bomer (Neal) and Tim DeKay (Peter).

Neal's Past is the Focus of Season Four

The new season starts with Neal experiencing a personal crisis on the tropical island he fled to with Mozzie.

"One of the interesting things that Neal discovers when he does go abroad is that [he's not] ready for retirement," Bomer said. "He gets really stir crazy, really fast. He's a die-hard romantic to a fault, and one of the reasons that's to a fault is because it's like, 'What do I do now?'"

"I think he is searching for purpose and meaning in his life," Bomer added. "A big part of that was getting all these wrinkles in his past ironed out so he could put that aspect of things behind him. Just to have some sort of understanding and control over the cards he was dealt so he could move forward in a way that suits him the best."

Treat Williams Joins the Cast

Treat Williams joins the show as the mysterious Sam, a guy with ties to Neal's past.

"There's a sense of danger with Treat's character," DeKay says. "Physical danger, life or death".

There Will be Boxing

Neal and Peter will be showing some skin, too. In an upcoming episode, the two participate in a planned friendly boxing match, but last-minute information causes Neal to take the match seriously and actually fight Peter.

Behind the scenes, the actors were joking about the near nudity.

"[Tim] was playing all these mind games with me," Bomer said. "Like [saying], 'Oh, that's what you're going to wear? I was hoping you'd be more tan than that. I'm sure they can light around it.'"

DeKay will Direct Again

DeKay, who directed last season's baseball-themed episode, will direct again in season four.

"The episode I will be directing has to do with Harlem jazz," DeKay said. "And Diahann Carroll will be singing in the episode. I haven't seen the script but the flavor will be very smoky and jazz club-y. It will be fun and sexy."

A Death in Season Four

In the new season, a White Collar character will die. Many characters will return, though. Alex and Sara will be back, and Lost's Rebecca Mader and Alias' Mia Maestro will guest star as possible love interests for Neal.
