WATCH: The Official 'Hercules' Trailer Starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson

The trailer for Hercules is here! And it's pretty damn interesting, as it features a peek at Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the titular hero. However, he'll also be playing two other legendary roles in the big-budget blockbuster: Zeus and Achilles. It's a daunting test of Johnson's charisma and star quality, and will determine to Hollywood whether the actor can carry his own franchise and open a big blockbuster on his own, without the name value of a preexisting franchise (Fast and Furious) or a big-name ensemble (GI Joe: Retaliation). In many respects, this is one of those summer movies that could go either way.

This spoiler-free trailer shows us how director Brett Ratner intends to render the Hercules mythos as the summer's biggest popcorn spectacle. Of course, this will be a tall order, since it's opening on July 25th opposite the hotly-anticipated Jupiter Ascending and just one week prior to the tentpole release of the summer, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. So will Ratner and Johnson be able to deliver the goods? You can watch the full trailer below and judge for yourself:
