'Walking Dead' Star Norman Reedus to Star in Sci-Fi Thriller 'Air'

Executive producer Robert Kirkman and actor Norman Reedus are looking ahead to their next side project away from their usual haunts on The Walking Dead.

Reedus will star in the sci-fi big-screen thriller Air, produced by Kirkman. Reedus joins a cast that already includes two-time Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou, who will be seen this summer in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

The script for Air is from Christian Cantamessa, the co-writer and lead designer for video games such as Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, projects that prove his immense skill for broad narratives of epic scope. The film will mark the feature directorial debut of Chris Pasetto (How I Survived the Zombie Apocalypse).

The film is set in "an underground cryogenic facility after a nuclear fallout renders the atmosphere unbreathable. Air centers on its two custodial workers (Reedus, Hounsou), who take care of the cryogenically sleeping personnel that are to re-establish society, but they struggle to preserve their own sanity and lives while maintaining the extremely fragile environment of the last livable place on earth."

This is a pretty fantastic premise, and the two leads are remarkable talents for a project like this. Color me excited.
