The Voice 7 Results: Who went home on Top 10 Week? - 11/25/2014
Welcome to the live blog and recap for The Voice 7 Results, "Live Eliminations"! The Top 10 Performance Show was a night of really solid performances overall, although some stood out more than others, naturally. While no one had a terrible night, in my opinion, I thought Anita Antoinette seriously under-delivered. And while Ryan Sill did an admirable job with Muse's "Starlight," I'm not sure if it'll be enough to keep him out of the Bottom 3. But anything can happen! In addition to results, Taylor Swift performs live!
Rickey.org readers predict that tonight's Bottom 3 artists will be Team Gwen's Ryan Sill (31% of the vote), Team Blake's Reagan James (23% of the vote), and Team Gwen's Anita Antoinette (21% of the vote). But it's not too late to vote in the poll, so head on over and add your predictions!

RECAP
-We kick things off with Carson revealing that every artist charted on the iTunes Top 200. However, we're going to start off the show with a special number from Team Adam.
TEAM ADAM PERFORMS!
-We get a performance of "Only the Good Die Young" from Adam Levine and his team. It's a bit of a dated song, but all three members of the team sound terrific. Chris Jamison, in particular, continues to impress me with each week. He's always had a voice, but his onstage charisma has improved by leaps and bounds. I know some are predicting it, but I actually hope tonight isn't the end for him.
-And then, as soon as the performance ends, we get to our first results of the evening!
RESULTS, PT. 1
-The ten finalists are brought out onstage as Carson reveals the first TWO finalists through to next week's show.
The first artist through to next week's show is from Team Blake...CRAIG WAYNE BOYD!
The second artist through to next week's show is from Team Adam...MATT MCANDREW!
Well, we got the two frontrunners out of the way early. Any predictions on who gets called next? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were hiding the voting results in plain sight by actually calling everyone out in ranking order, but pretending it's random. When they've done seven seasons of a show, producers have to amuse themselves somehow.
-We're back with Carson asking Adam about his odds of repeating last week's result, in which all three of his team members were declared safe (he was the only coach without an act in danger of elimination). He has faith in his team, of course, even though you can never really be sure how America's vote will pan out. For her part, Gwen admits she's nervous, but she simply feels blessed to be here with her team. Pharrell feels the confidence in his team comes from the artists believing in themselves. Blake gushes about Reagan, saying she's ahead of her time. Of Craig, Blake says he's shocked he hasn't been discovered yet. Actually, I kind of am too, after last night's performance. Dude just has it.
RESULTS, PT. 2
-The artists are back onstage as Carson reveals the next two names...
The third artist through to next week's show is from Team Pharrell...LUKE WADE!
The fourth artist through to next week's show is from Team Gwen...TAYLOR JOHN WILLIAMS!
Both are good calls by America. I know Luke's performance was divisive, but I thought it was great. And while "Come Together" is an overdone song, I thought Taylor put his own unique spin on it, to where I found myself really digging it.
-Back from break with some Twitter questions from the Sprint Skybox, with the coaches being asked about Taylor Swift. Adam notes that she gave amazing advice during the Knockout Rounds, and I totally agree. If she wasn't currently in the process of ruling planet Earth, I think she'd make a great Voice coach.
TEAM PHARRELL PERFORMS!
-We then get a performance of Pharrell and his team singing "What A Wonderful World," and honestly? This is my absolute favorite team performance so far. I seriously didn't want this to end. Luke sounded terrific, DaNica sounded classic, and I continue to believe that Pharrell doesn't get enough credit for having such a lovely voice. Maybe it's partially that I'm a sucker for this song, and the old fashioned swingin' style they cultivated for this number, but this was one of my favorite things this season.
RESULTS, PT. 3
-The artists are back out onstage. Two names will be called.
The fifth act through to next week is from Team Pharrell...DANICA SHIREY!
The sixth act through to next week is from Team Adam...CHRIS JAMISON!
I'm really happy for Chris. While I didn't think he was flawless last night, I thought he absolutely deserved to go through. DaNica was another no-brainer for me, as well, even though I'm not sure how much longer she'll last. She just feels a bit too old fashioned for this show. But I'm enjoying her all the same. Hell of a voice on her.
-Aaaand we're back with the current It Girl...
TAYLOR SWIFT PERFORMS!
-You know, VMA kerfluffle notwithstanding, Taylor really doesn't get enough credit for being as good a live singer as she is. Seriously, I already love "Blank Space," but this performance was practically studio quality. I suppose you could argue she was lip-syncing, but I don't buy that. She sounded live here. Granted, I'm not always the best judge of that sort of thing, but everything seemed on the up-and-up to me. I don't know about anyone else, but I loved this.
-Carson reveals after the performance that Taylor is the only artist this year with two Number Ones, and that she essentially replaced herself at No. 1. She then talks a bit about 1989, saying it's her favorite album she's ever done, and it means a lot that people are enjoying it. She also expresses how much she loved being involved in the Knockouts. Once again, I'm 100% onboard the "Throw Money at Taylor to Make Her A Coach" bandwagon.
-We then cut to a Starbucks-sponsored video package of the Top 10 hanging out and having a lavish Thanksgiving dinner together...with their families! Well, it's not the same as the loved ones visits on Survivor, but it's still pretty sweet. Reagan's love for her grandpa is adorable, and Anita's toast to her mother is genuinely touching. I also love Taylor's ongoing dedication to making his grandmother proud. This is such an incredibly likable group of finalists. Genuine question, has there ever been a genuinely unlikable contestant on this show? Everyone just seems so nice and down to Earth. I'd love to hang out with any of these people.
RESULTS, PT. 4
-It's time to reveal the Bottom 3.
The seventh and final act moving on to the top 8 is...DAMIEN!
REAGAN JAMES, RYAN SILL and ANITA ANTOINETTE are the Bottom 3!
Wow, and I really thought Rickey.org readers would be wrong on this one. I honestly didn't think Reagan would be in danger this early. Of course, if I'd taken some time to think about it, I probably would have realized that there was no one else who could have landed there with Ryan and Anita except maybe Chris or Luke. And that just wasn't going to happen. So kudos to you guys for totally calling that one. I guess I was partially blinded by my Reagan fandom. I don't need to hear a sing-off. I already know who I'm voting to save.
BOTTOM 3 SING-OFF
-Reagan James sings "I'm Like A Bird" by Nelly Furtado, and it's a lovely vocal, but I'm distracted by 1) how much she looks like vintage Miley Cyrus here, and 2) wondering whatever happened to Nelly Furtado. Actually, the longer this goes on, the less I'm impressed by it. Of the bottom 3, I'd rather Reagan stayed, but I'm not sure this is the kind of song you need to be singing when your ass is on the line. After the performance, Blake makes his case for why Reagan deserves to stay, once again noting her age and saying she's brave enough to be different. It's a fairly impassioned speech, although once again, I really wish we could get away from bringing up her age every two minutes.
-I thought Reagan chose a bad Save Me song, but if it's possible to choose a worse song for this situation, Anita Antoinette found a way to bring it out with "The Remedy" by Jason Mraz. Don't get me wrong, I've worn out my copy of Waiting For My Rocket To Come, but this is NOT a good song to be singing when you're trying to make a case for why you should remain in a singing competition. This was an absolute mess of a performance, and I just don't see how she makes it out of this. Gwen pleads with America to save her, but her tone suggests she knows Anita is done for, as Gwen straight up tells her she wishes her the best.
-Ryan, for the second straight week, picks the best Save Me song of the three, singing "Collide" by Howie Day. And honestly, I think he gave the best vocal of the three. I mean, I'd still save Reagan simply because I think she has more to offer the competition at this point, but if we're going off of straight vocal, I think Ryan takes this. I suppose we'll find out soon enough. After the performance, Gwen makes a far more impassioned plea for America to save Ryan, as it continues to be evident that Gwen has...well, maybe not a crush. But she seems to have far more faith in Ryan than America has had, judging by their voting patterns the past three weeks (well, outside of the Instant Save). I wouldn't be mad if he stayed though. But I'm wondering how much longer he could possibly last if he does.
-The suspense-killing real-time vote totals reveal that Ryan Sill isn't going anywhere. He leads with 48%, while Reagan has 33% and Anita has 19%. I don't get how Ryan could be this insanely popular on the Instant Save, and yet still land in the Bottom 3 every week. Are the other artists' fans simply people who don't watch live, while Ryan's are? It would certainly explain how he has such a commanding lead in the vote with each Instant Save. Either way, I'll be sad to see Reagan go. Barring any shock eliminations like Matt or Craig, I'll probably be voting for her to come back through the wildcard twist (even though the very concept of the wildcard twist is B.S. to me).
FINAL RESULT
-Carson asks for last words from the coaches while fans finish up the voting, but it's not like anyone can catch Ryan's vote totals at this point. Carson reveals the result, and it's a foregone conclusion...
RYAN SILL IS INSTANTLY SAVED BY AMERICA!
REAGAN JAMES and ANITA ANTOINETTE are eliminated from THE VOICE 7!
So I guess the big question now is, how much longer can Ryan last? If he keeps landing in the Bottom 3, how many more times can his fanbase save him? Can they really keep rescuing him all the way to the end? I could almost see it happening, if we assume that Ryan's fans are the most socially active, and if we also assume that they always watch live so they can vote. And also if we assume that the fans of other acts 1) aren't as socially active, and 2) don't watch live, meaning by the time they watch on DVR, they can't exactly vote on the Instant Save. Of course, those are A LOT of freaking assumptions to make, so I'm going to do my best not to make them, and instead just say that Ryan has super passionate fans who've likely bought him one more week.
But what do you think? Was this the right result? If not, who would you have put in the Bottom 3? Who would you have sent home? Sound off in the comments! Until next week, thanks for reading and hanging out in the comments! It's always a blast getting to do this with all of you.
