The Voice 5 – Results – 11/19/2013 – Top 10 – Video

Who went home on The Voice Season 5 Top 10 Results on November 19, 2013? Two acts are eliminated tonight, while one is rescued by America with the Instant Save! Who will it be?

Rickey.org readers’ predictions for elimination:

Kat Robichaud leads the poll with 33.21% of the vote, making her the frontrunner for elimination (unless America saves her again like last week). Second in the voting is Austin Jenckes with 30.32%. From there, it's a pretty steep drop-off, as the next closest contestant predicted for elimination is Ray Boudreaux with 12.67%. And lastly, the fourth highest vote-getter for elimination is, perhaps surprisingly, Caroline Pennell. The magical fairy with the voice like honey took 5% of the vote. If she's in danger, I might have to commandeer some Twitters to save her. Just a heads up.

There's still time to vote in the poll, so head on over and add your predictions!

Let's get to the recap and results!

Recap

-We're live, with Carson introducing the show and throwing to a video package recapping last night's show. Blake feels that he's well on his way to his fourth win (I'd really rather he didn't, but if it were Cole Vosbury, I'd be able to find a way to live with it). In Cee Lo's part of the video, he scoops up Kat Robichaud in his arms for no discernible reason than to make me fitfully jealous. Grrr.

-Carson announces that four of the artists made the top 10 on the iTunes Rock chart, which I suppose is all well and good, although I wonder what kind of sample size the rock chart is for the entirety of the iTunes user base.

-Team Christina is here to sing a medley of Michael/Janet Jackson family songs, and while Jacquie Lee looks like a living Cupie doll (as always), Christina appears to be wearing a pair of bedazzled granny panties. Not a good look, Xtina. Digging the hair though.

-I need someone to make me a gif of Jacquie Lee's adorable, goofy-ass dancing. Sell a "Dance With Me Jacquie" doll for Christmas, and I'm convinced little girls across America would at least consider asking for one. It'd probably be sixth on their list, or maybe seventh, but it'd definitely be on there. Kids still like dolls, right?

-This was a fun performance, and they all looked like stars. It's kind of weird that I didn't even notice or miss Josh Logan, and I'm someone who actually liked the guy. Jacquie and Matthew Schuler are the real stars of Team Christina -- and maybe the competition.

9:11 PM

-Back from break with Carson unveiling that it is official...

ADAM LEVINE IS PEOPLE'S SEXIEST MAN ALIVE FOR 2013

-As a straight man, I offer Ryan Gosling as my rebuttal for this year, and for all years. In perpetuity. That said, it's impossible for me to front on Adam.

-Back to business, Adam talks about his team -- he feels that while they might not have delivered their best performances yet, he's fallen in love with his team and feels they're in good shape going forward. Cee Lo, meanwhile, feels that his team's chance to win, or at least advance, is "very strong." He states he believes in Kat and Caroline wholeheartedly. Carson then butters up Christina with talk of her performance being the best team performance in Voice history. Christina then says that while she feels her team members are already stars, she pleads with America to vote for them. Carson then offers his condolences to Blake for losing "Sexiest Man Alive" to Adam, and Blake jokes about Adam being beautiful on the inside. This leads to a great moment where Adam gets up to hug it out with Blake, prompting a group hug with all four judges, with Carson remarking that they should all have Thanksgiving together live on the air -- before immediately retracting because "NBC will make that happen."

Voice Confessional

-It's confessional time! Most embarrassing moment? Tessanne mentions eating someone else's food by accident at a fast food restaurant, while James says he's embarrassed about having to sing telegrams to people in the past. Cher mentions slipping onstage, while Matthew says his most embarrassing moment is admitting, last week, that he wet the bed til he was seven. The confessional also features Ryan Tedder, Ed Sheeran, Miguel, The Voice coaches, and the rest of the top ten, and it's a pretty cute segment that's better seen than transcribed. (I'll work on getting a video up as soon as one is available)

Results

-Time to get down to business!

America saves JAMES WOLPERT! (JOY! But seriously, Adam. Give this guy a decent song next week, okay?)

America saves MATTHEW SCHULER!

As a public service, here's how to use the Instant Save. Because it's apparently confusing our nation's best and brightest.

9:26 PM

-We're here with a fairly random group performance, as Kat, Will and James sing "Sugar We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy, and I wish I could understand the boner these producers/coaches have for giving James rock songs, as if that's something he should be doing. Each week he gets farther and farther away from being that guy who sang "A Case of You". But even then, I can't pretend this wasn't good. And "Rock James" is still a better singer than most people who make it on a reality singing competition.

-More results, as two more artists advance to the top 10:

America saves RAY BOUDREAUX! (If Ray isn't the third person in the bottom 3, who will it be?)

America saves WILL CHAMPLIN!

9:35 PM

-We're back with Blake singing onstage with his team for the first time this season. They perform ZZ Top's classic "Sharp Dressed Man," which was the name of the store where I got my senior prom tux from:

#ImpenetrableSwag

-I really dug this performance from Blake's Team. Makes me think they could have had a future together as an awesome Southern band in the 70s. Like a Lynyrd Skynyrd for 2013. And Cole Vosbury just keeps getting better and better. I'm convinced this man could do anything.

-Time for more results...

America saves TESSANNE CHIN!

America saves JACQUIE LEE!

-So all of Team Adam and all of Team Christina are through to next week, leaving us with Austin, Caroline, Kat, and Cole. I have a terrible feeling about this...

9:46 PM

-Back from break with Carson reading tweets in a segment that really has no reason to exist except to explain the Instant Save. And to reveal that tomorrow is Matthew Schuler's 21st birthday. Get your drink on!

-In a pairing that's perhaps the most random of the season so far, Caroline and Tessanne sing "Royals," and this is kind of awesome. Caroline's hip-swaying is even more adorable than Jacquie Lee's. I'm also pretty sure Caroline said "Grey juice" instead of "Grey Goose," which is just about the cutest thing since cats gained sentience and started posting pictures of themselves on the internet. And hey, Caroline and Tessanne's voices fit together really well together! If Caroline someone how gets eliminated, can Adam steal her and put her with Tessanne to make a duo? PLEASE?

-Seriously though, if Caroline leaves, I'm never speaking to America again.

-More seriously though, this performance is great. And I say that as someone who's sick to death of this song. The random dancers are kind of unnecessary though, as with most dancers on shows like these.

-More results! SO nervous...

America saves COLE VOSBURY!

-That means the bottom 3 is Kat Robichaud, Austin Jenckes, and Caroline Pennell. It also means America isn't getting a Christmas card from me this year.

-Cee Lo says America should save Cat and Caroline, but adds that Austin deserves to be here as well. But hey, he doesn't want to be wiped out of the competition in one fell swoop, so he says he hopes America makes the right decision.

-Blake wants America to know that Austin lives and breathes music, and that he doesn't know a more passionate vocalist out there. Blake also takes 100% of responsibility for Austin's placement in the bottom 3, and says that if America votes him through, he'll do everything he can to get him to the Top 3.

-Okay, BRB, gotta save Caroline.

9:57 PM

-We're back with the final results, and I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

-Carson throws to the judges, and Adam doesn't know who America is tweeting to save, but he loves all three of the contestants. However, if he had to guess, he'd think Caroline would be saved, saying she's "pure magic." Christina, meanwhile, talks about how much this situation sucks, and I'm too nervous to type.

America saves CAROLINE PENNELL!

Image: celebration, caroline pennell instant save

WE DID IT!

Of course, in doing so, that means...

AUSTIN JENCKES and KAT ROBICHAUD are eliminated from The Voice!

Caroline fights tears upon hearing she's safe, and I can't blame her. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. It's a shame to lose Kat, but in a duel between her and Caroline, I'm Team Caroline every time. Hopefully, Cee Lo takes this as a wake-up call to start giving Caroline some better songs, because Caroline Pennell in the bottom 3 is hot rubbish.

Thanks for hanging out, guys! I'll be posting videos as soon as they become available! Until then, hit up the comments to discuss the results!

Goodnight!
