Welcome to The Voice 2014 Season 6 results, recap and live blog for May 06, 2014. Who went home and was eliminated from the Top 5? Who will make the finale?!
The Instant Save is still in play, so when the time comes, vote using the hasthag #VoiceSave followed by the name of the artist you want to save. You will have five minutes near the end of the show to vote!
Josh, Jake and Kristen landing in the Top 6 on iTunes last night suggests that Christina Grimmie and Kat Perkins could wind up singing for their lives tonight. But which singer from last night's performance show will join them in the Bottom 3? Many of you offered your opinions in the Top 5 power rankings, so it should be interesting to see if any of those predictions pan out.
Rickey.org readers predict Kat Perkins (44.41%), Kristen Merlin (20.75%), and Christina Grimmie (17.13%) will be tonight's Bottom 3! Should be an intense result!
Let's get this show on the road!

RECAP
-We kick things off with Rascal Flatts performing their new single, "Rewind". Honestly, I've long wondered what happened to those guys. They were all the rage in the mid-00s, but then they just sort of dropped out of the public consciousness. But now they're back, I suppose, and in a big way. "Rewind" is kind of catchy, although not unlike what you'd probably expect from an uptempo Rascal Flatts song. Still, I mostly enjoyed this.
-And we get RIGHT INTO RESULTS!
RESULTS, PT. 1
-Carson announces the first person through to the finals...
JAKE WORTHINGTON advances to the finals!
-Jake is the first person through, which means our readers might be right in their predictions up top.
THE VOICE CONFESSIONAL
-We get the coaches talking about what they would be if they weren't singers, with Usher saying he'd like to be a magician because they get all the girls (Adam: "Because Usher has such a hard time getting girls). We also get Blake Shelton in a blond Adam wig, Shakira trying to whistle, and then a whole lot of basketball. A cute segment, but I found myself not really paying attention to it because I'm so intensely nervous for Christina Grimmie.
-Carson notes that all MP3s bought between now and the finale will count towards an artist's final vote tally, so keep at it! He then asks the coaches about last night's show. Adam still sticks by Christina and Kat, although he admits that it was an off night for them, and at the wrong moment, which is kind of a random reversal on his opinion from last night. Meanwhile, Shakira says she'd be so happy if Kristen made it, she'd actually be able to whistle. Usher, for his part, states that it'll be important for Josh to remain consistent if he makes it through. Blake rambles about Sierra Mist before Adam breaks in with an analogy about bookends, and blech, my nerves are getting to me! WE NEED RESULTS, CARSON!
JACQUIE LEE
-Jacquie sings her new single, "Broken Ones," and it sounds radio ready. The song itself sounds like a Christina Perri ballad, and honestly, if that's the path her career takes, I would have no problem with that whatsoever. However, her vocals are still kind of all over the place. But then, that's always been an issue with her. At the very least, she still has a nice tone, even if she doesn't exactly have control over that wild instrument of hers.
-After the performance, Carson interviews her about life after The Voice, and she says it's been the good kind of crazy. She also plugs The Voice tour with Will, Tessanne, herself, and Dia Frampton "so far," which seems to indicate more past finalists will be added. Can a guy hope for some Caroline Pennell?

-Back from break with Jacquie Lee and Tessanne Chin in The Voice skybox, taking questions from Twitter. Someone asks Tessanne when she's taking Adam to Jamaica, and Adam says he'll go "right now." Another question asks Jacquie who her favorite mentor from last season was, and she says Ed Sheeran. AND HEY, HERE'S ED SHEERAN! Jacquie embraces him like an old friend, and it's at least less awkward than the business with Sam Woolf and Ariana Grande, or Alex Preston and Zooey Deschanel. Carson asks Ed what he's been up to, and he jokes that he never left after last season, and has just been hanging around ever since. He promotes his new album, Multiply, although I kind of wish he'd plugged his awesome new song from the Fault In Our Stars soundtrack, because it compromised ALL OF MY FEELS. For what it's worth (and for me, it's worth quite a bit), Ed announces he'll be performing on next week's finale. And now, it's time for our next Voice alum to hit the stage...
WILL CHAMPLIN
-Will performs his new single, "Eye of the Pyramid," and I take back whatever doubts I had about Will going in this direction artistically. This song is BADASS, and just might be my favorite post-Voice single. Granted, it's not really a great showcase for his voice, but it's a great platform for his artistry, as this is both rocking and soulful and intense. SO intense. Man, I couldn't have been more wrong about this song when I first heard it last night. Way to shut me up, Will.
-After the performance, he talks a bit about his life after The Voice, and mentions that "Eye of the Pyramid" drops today.

-Carson reveals the next finalist...
JOSH KAUFMAN advances to the finals!
-Thus, the bottom 3 are Kat Perkins, Christina Grimmie, and Kristen Merlin, like our readers predicted.
TESSANNE CHIN
-Tessanne performs her new single, "Everything Reminds Me of You," and I immediately find myself wondering if Emeli Sande had a hand in writing this, because everything about it sounds like a groovier version of "My Kind of Love." It's a beautiful fit for Tessanne's voice though, and it sounds like a potential radio hit, provided she has enough backing from the label to make it happen. It's kind of stunning that we're six seasons in and we've still yet to get even a moderate mainstream success out of this show. I guess Danielle Bradbery and Cassadee Pope are doing okay? I don't even know. If you have to go out of your way to research whether someone is a mainstream success or not, they probably aren't. Oh, but yeah, back to Tessanne. Totally dug this performance.
-Tessanne announces her album will be coming out on June 24, and will be called (if I heard her correctly) "Count On My Love," and it features work with such famed songwriters as Diane Warren, the woman who gave us such tiresome singing competition standards as "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing." Maybe she can give Tessanne a similar hit. Who knows?

KRISTEN MERLIN SINGS FOR THE INSTANT SAVE!
-Kristen sings "Blown Away" by Carrie Underwood, and I wasn't really feeling this. And I'm surprised, since I was kind of expecting to love this. The pre-chorus was pitched too low, but the verses were pitched too high. Only the chorus was in the right key, which meant that only 50% of the performance was good at any one time. Still, the good parts were really good. I don't know if it will be enough, but she certainly gave it all she had.
-Blake says "It's been amazing to see what's happened between you and Shakira as artist and coach. It's been magical." He says he's pulling for her. Shakira, meanwhile, calls Kristen a storyteller who emotes every time she sings. She says we'll recognize Kristen's voice on the radio, and this is why she should be here next week.
KAT PERKINS SINGS FOR THE INSTANT SAVE!
-Kat sings "Good Girl" by Carrie Underwood, because it's apparently Carrie Underwood night. Kat has the opposite problem from Kristen here, in that the verses are tight and really full of character, whereas the chorus feels a bit hoarse and strained. I enjoyed this performance more than I disliked it though. Kat is a fighter, and it shows in every single thing she does.
-Usher hates that Kat is in this position again, because she's a fighter "like a vicious cat." Adam, meanwhile, says he's such a big Kat Perkins fan that "I'm gonna be saving the crap outta ya." Um, Adam, you have another artist too.
CHRISTINA GRIMMIE SINGS FOR THE INSTANT SAVE!
-Christina sings "Apologize" by OneRepublic, and I like this. I don't love it, but I do like it quite a bit, to the point that I wish we could get a studio version of it. She really digs in towards the end, and manages to have pretty good control over her upper register for once. I was impressed.
-Adam says "I'm putting myself on the mercy of everyone now. If you get this girl to the finals, if you get her there, this girl is going to win." However, he says you just have to get her there first, so he pleads with America to save her.
-Time to vote! Just "#VoiceSave" and then the artist's first name. I'm voting Christina because her performance was my favorite of the three, and because she's the one person of the three who I actually think could win. Still, it's anyone's game right now, particularly since they're not revealing the live vote totals during the commercial break, so we have no idea who's in the lead.
-Turns out the reason they didn't show the live voting graphic is because of a glitch, although Carson assures us that the vote is still good, and we should keep tweeting. Carson throws to the judges for final comments: Shakira says Kristen represents what's different, and that she's making people open their minds. Adam is proud at everyone, saying that there's no such thing as a bottom group at this stage of the competition. He says "Hopefully everyone is going to do the right thing here," although he doesn't mention what he thinks "the right thing" is.
FINAL RESULTS
-Carson milks the final result forever...
CHRISTINA GRIMMIE advances to the finale!
KAT PERKINS and KRISTEN MERLIN are eliminated from The Voice 2014!
TEAM SHAKIRA has been wiped out!
For non-U.S. viewers:
-I guess Team Shakira being wiped out is fitting, since Shakira basically confirmed she's done with The Voice completely after this season. But several questions remain: with Kristen gone now, does Jake get 100% of the country vote? Do Kat's fans back Christina? How will next week's finale end? This is MADNESS! Who wins The Voice?!
-I would also be remiss if I didn't mention that Carson announced that America will now have a say in what the contestants sing in the finale by voting here. So pick wisely, America!
That's a wrap for me! Check back later for videos. Until then, let us know in the comments what you thought about this result. Thanks for hanging out, guys! You've all been great, as usual.
