First up: Team Blake Shelton!
The Voice 2014 Recap - Playoffs Premiere
(I will be updating throughout the night and multi-tasking, please chat in the comments like old times!)
Team Blake Shelton Performances:
Audra McLaughlin - A Broken Wing (Watch Video)
Review: Audra wanted to work with Blake because she loves country music. She says the message of "A Broken Wing" is that you can do anything. Audra looks fantastic! I thought she struggled a bit in the higher notes. I would have liked those to be smoother.
Adam Levine: I think that you are spectacular.
Shakira: That was really beautiful.
Usher: It's effortless for you to sing songs like this.
Blake Shelton: You keep getting better everytime you come on stage.
Ryan Whyte Maloney - Second Chance (Watch Video)
Review: Ryan was a garbage man before he was on the show. He chose this song because there was a time in his life that it was do or die. Blake was worried about this song. I thought the performance was very karaoke. I don't think he is good enough for the live show.
Adam Levine: Blake, I want to file for a "Bro-vorce". The overwhelmingly positive stuff is starting to take over.
Shakira: You've been one of the biggest surprises on the show.
Usher: This was definitely a break out moment for you.
Blake Shelton: I'm overwhelmed with excitement and pride.
Madilyn Paige - Clarity (Watch Video)
Review: Madilyn is in high school and she loves making home movies. She used to be on Team Usher until stolen by Blake in the Battles Round 2. This started out strong, but she faded in the middle and the end. It seemed that her voice was weak when the tempo picked up. But on the slow parts she sounded really good. It looks like she lost her chance at the live shows here.
Adam Levine: You gotta let go.
Shakira: Well done. It was a difficult song. I heard so pocket issues.
Usher: Blake has helped you find a different approach to singing.
Blake Shelton: My favorite part about your voice... if your voice came on the radio, I would know it's Madilyn.
Jake Worthington - Anywhere With You (Watch Video)
Review: Jake auditioned in Season 5 and he came back. Jake has a girlfriend. "The only girl who treated me like a skinny guy," he said. I thought this was wonderful. Jake is a front-runner for sure. He's such a down to earth guy and the fans love him.
Adam Levine: You were jacked up on Mountain Dew out there.
Shakira: I love you so much. I think you are a star.
Usher: If you don't believe it, no one will.
Blake Shelton: ... that's country right there. It was really solid.Sisaundra Lewis - New York State of Mind (Watch Video)
Review: Sisaundra worked with Celine Dion for 5 tour years then she became a stay at home mom.
OMG I love her so much. BDND forever and ever! Sisaundra is my life!
Adam Levine: You can sing... get lost in it... combined with the soulfulness of your performance. It was jazzy, but it kicked in.
Shakira: Are you aware of the voice that you have? You have a certain glam in your sound. I really hope you make it to the live shows.
Usher: I love that voice. How did you end up with this dude? (Blake) I'm blown away. You are a teacher.
Blake Shelton: Wow Sisaundra. You make me rethink "coaching". With you, I talk to you from here (heart). Results
