With a release date of June 12, 2015, production on Jurassic World will need to begin soon. Thus, it makes sense that we're now getting word on casting being finalized. Case in point, we now have the official villains confirmed for the Jurassic Park sequel!
Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) has been cast as the villain for Jurassic World opposite lead stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt. Also joining the cast is Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi), whose role remains closely guarded. He might be a villain himself, for all we know. But then, I always figured the dinosaurs were the villains. Meh, shows what I know.
The script for Jurassic World is being written by Derek Connolly, an upstart screenwriter with a wonderful knack for minimalist science-fiction (his time travel dramedy, Safety Not Guaranteed, was fantastic). Colin Trevorrow, the co-writer and helmer of Safety Not Guaranteed, co-wrote the script and will also direct the film for producers Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley. So big things are definitely expected from the film, not just in terms of box office, but also in quality. After Jurassic Park 3, this franchise has a lot of ground to make up. But casting these two, D'Onofrio in particular, is a great starting point.
Jurassic World releases in 3D on June 12, 2015.
