'Vikings' Renewed for a Third Season

History is keeping in the pillaging and plundering business for another year.

The network has renewed Vikings for a 10-episode third season to air in 2015.

“Vikings has taken viewers by storm and has established itself as one of the most compelling, visually stunning dramas on television,” said Dirk Hoogstra, Executive Vice President and General Manager for History and H2, in a statement.

The show, which currently airs Thursdays at 10:00 PM ET on History, has been a surprising hit for the channel, bringing in a solid 3.4 million total viewers on average. This is encouraging, if for no other reason than for how the network is starting to hit pay dirt with more history-based programming. Seriously, a man can only take so much Ax Men and Ice Road Truckers before he starts to wonder whatever happened to his dependably WW2-centric documentary channel.
