VIDEO: Stephen Colbert Hilariously, Poignantly Addresses David Letterman's Retirement

Ever since the news was announced that Stephen Colbert would be taking over David Letterman's Late Show spot, many were wondering how the Colbert "character" would address the news on The Colbert Report.

Well, last night, we got our answer.

The opening segment to last night's Colbert Report featured the right-wing, narcissistic Colbert "character" mixing in some poignant reflections of college life from Stephen Colbert himself, and it made for a pretty strong monologue. I know Stephen has been playing a character for nearly a decade now, but I really have no doubt that he'll be able to make his new Late Show gig work without having to play a role. He's got this wonderful sense of humor about himself that's a great thing for a mainstream comedic figure to have, and I'm already excited about the possibilities for what his version of Late Show could be like, even if I'm really, really, really going to miss The Colbert Report and the "Stephen Colbert" character.
