Preparation

This performance is dedicated to Kristen’s friends and family back in Massachusetts. Kristen talks about first getting into country music through Reba McIntyre, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, and others, and going on to writing her own music as she began doing gigs around the city. A friend suggested she try out for The Voice, and now she’s here at the Top 5, which she still can hardly believe. She’ll be singing “Gunpowder and Lead” by Miranda Lambert, which should be a good fit for her voice, and should show off a more aggressive side to her style, as she’s spent the better part of the competition as a balladeer.
