VIDEO: 'Jane the Virgin' Trailer Is Gloriously Absurd

The CW has pinned down its lineup for the 2014-2015 broadcast season, and it's a pretty stacked collection of changes, both big and small: from the debut of The Flash trailer, to the decision to move Beauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie to midseason, The CW is looking to make waves. But what about some of the other new shows heading to the network? You know, like Jane the Virgin?

Well, if you're curious about the show, which is loosely adapted from a Venezuelan telenovela, this trailer gives you a first glimpse that makes this categorized "drama" seem like the season's funniest new comedy. Maybe Jane the Virgin will prove me completely wrong, but this just seems goofy in a way that I don't think the creative minds behind the show were intending, even if the network itself appears to be in on the joke. Of course, any series about a teenage girl getting accidentally inseminated was always going to sound a bit...strange, at best. But then, that's kind of how this show is presented, so I can't really blame the network for inconsistency. Check out the full trailer below, and bask in the gloriously absurd tale of a teenage virgin who gets pregnant with a child that is somehow not the offspring of the Lord:
