VIDEO: Gary Oldman apologizes for Playboy interview on Jimmy Kimmel

Gary Oldman appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday apologizing for his recent Playboy interview where he defended the anti-Semitic and homophobic comments made by Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin in the past.

Oldman had already sent a statement of apology earlier and his appearance on Kimmel continues his walk of shame.

He said:

"It was an article I did with Playboy and I said some things that were poorly considered. Once I saw it in print, I saw that it was insensitive, pernicious and ill-informed. I am a public figure, I should be an example and inspiration and I am an a—hole. I am 56. I should know better. I extend my apology and my love and best wishes to my fan base."

Gary Oldman is starring in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes which opens July 11, 2014.

The world is full of people who fall into a puddle of irony every day.
