Preparation

Bria is singing “I’m With You” by Avril Lavigne, and she says this was the record that allowed people to see that Avril in a different light, that she wasn’t this guarded person. In rehearsals, she sounds kind of rough, but honestly, I’m just glad she isn’t singing “Hello Kitty.” Usher says this will be Bria’s “greatest challenge.”

Coach Comments

Adam Levine: Adam says, “With respect to you and respect to Usher, I want to be critical.” He basically says that it wasn’t her best, and implies that this felt like a completely different artist.
Shakira: Shakira tries to find a polite way to say it wasn’t good, and chooses to say that she liked her attempt at infusing the performance with conviction.
Usher: Usher says being an artist involves passion and being connected to a song, and says that’s what he loved about the song, noting how she started off soft and built to a crescendo
Blake Shelton: Blake echoes Adam’s thoughts, and says that while he didn’t hear anything bad, it did feel like Bria was a completely different artist.
