VIDEO: Andre 3000 Is Jimi Hendrix In 'All Is By My Side'

So how do you make a Jimi Hendrix movie when the late guitar god's estate won't let you use any of his music? Why, you hire Andre 3000 to play the lead, and set the story in London in 1966 and 1967, just before the release of Hendrix's iconic debut album, Are You Experienced?, of course!

But if that sounds like a risky proposition, it probably helps that the film is written and directed by Oscar-winning screenwriter John Ridley, who took home the gold for 12 Years A Slave this year. It also helps that Andre 3000 is such a staggeringly good Hendrix, from what little we've seen of him. He seems to have his general cadence down perfectly, to say nothing of his look. But will the movie be any good? Hard to know for sure, but the trailer gives us an idea. Check out the full video below:

All Is By My Side hits theaters September 26, 2014.
