Victoria Justice Thriller Pilot Receives Series Order from MTV

MTV is going all-in on Victoria Justice.
The network has given a series order to Eye Candy, a project based on an RL Stine novel, that will feature the former Victorious star in the lead role. MTV has given the greenlight for ten episodes of the thriller, which began as a pilot directed by Twilight helmer Catherine Hardwicke. However, Justice had yet to be cast when the pilot was shot, so that original pilot will not air. Instead, that episode will be re-shot with Victoria Justice and co-star Harvey Guillen (Raising Hope). Supporting roles will also be recast.
The show is described as a "cyber thriller," and it centers around the character of Lindy (Justice), a "beautiful but reclusive hacker whose blog exposes everything from terrorist plots to suspected killers." After being talked into giving online dating a shot, Lindy is targeted by a cyber stalker. When things take a violent turn, Lindy is forced to team up with her city's cyber-crime unit to stop the beginnings of a serial killing spree.
Although Hardwicke's original pilot has been discarded, she will remain on board as an executive producer alongside Jason Blum, Yvonne Bernard and Beth Elise Hawk. In addition, Emmy Grinwis will co-executive produce the project. As for Justice, this will be her first regular series role since the end of Victorious in 2013, although she's kept busy in the interim, having recently recorded her debut album. (Her single, "Gold", is currently available on iTunes)
Right now, Eye Candy is pretty much the biggest drama project MTV has lined up. Should be interesting to see what a show is capable of when MTV gives it their full backing. You can check out the first official poster for the series below:
