Victor Rasuk - Lords of Dogtown

So the story goes... (because there's always an interesting thing with me regarding these things)... was that Tevon forgot to give me all my comic books today, which I had to grab from the stack myself. So, Roger, who owns Time Machine, gave me one of the advance passes sitting on the counter for Lords of Dogtown in Chelsea Cinema, which was great because I was going to watch it anyway and might as well do it free -- that's an extra screening of Revenge of the Sith right there. Since the pass was good for two I invited Juliana to watch with me since she just lived one block from the theater. Juliana is now turning into my movie-partner. Woop-woop.
I highly recommend this movie to anyone interested in skateboarding, coming of age movies and the 70's. It was a fun movie that's quite informative in terms of history and has a just-right feel good ending. I have to say that the reason I watched this movie, Victor Rasuk who plays Tony Alva, needs a little bit more experience with his acting chops, but overall, I still loved him. I was also pleasantly surprised at Michael Angarano, who brought in his comedy experience from Will & Grace to his role which was a joy to see. Heath Ledger also put in a good performance in here, dental crowns and all. But the best guy however was Emile Hirsch, and yes, it looks like we will follow this young man's career because he was just amazing. This guy seems to be channeling the spirit of River Phoenix with a touch of Leonardo DiCaprio. Hopefully we'll see more of him in the future.
I think it's a bit too late for me to pick up skateboarding, but dude, skateboarding in an empty swimming pool is the coolest thing ever. Also, having something named after you, like an Alva skateboard is also way cool.
