Via Brazil

After volunteering my time at a singing master class sponsored by the Ma-Yi Theatre Company at the Philippine Center, we had dinner at Via Brazil. I now have a new place to bring people to eat out. It is my intention to try a couple of other dishes on the menu in the future (such as the steak with fried egg), so I know what to recommend if asked. Loved the live music as well.

I had the best rice and black beans ever at this place -- I know, it had a magical flavor that I didn't think would be possible with plain old rice and beans. And my main course was some shrimp marinated in parsley and cilantro. Good stuff. Brazilian food is very "refreshing".

I've realized that I should be making a list of good restaurants I've been to here in New York and post some notes on the blog. I was just thinking of places to eat in Chinatown and it hit me that I know at least four places where I wouldn't be embarassed to bring people to -- and I know for sure that the food would be a hit. Priceless info there having a first hand account. Also, I need to improve my social-networking skills, although I have been taking some baby steps. I'm still new to this reaching out and meeting people business, but I think it's good for me.

So anyhow, if you are thinking Brazilian food while in New York City, you can try Via Brazil on 46th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue. I would love to bring you there. It is Rickey RecommendedTM.
