Good news Marshmallows! Veronica Mars is getting a March 14, 2014 release date!!!
The date falls on the one-year anniversary of the film being backed by fans of the original television series on Kickstarter, who raised a whopping $5.7 million.
"Warner Bros. had this date circled for quite some time and hoped it would stay open," joked the show's creator Rob Thomas (no, not that one) to Entertainment Weekly. "Luckily, no other teen detective movie decided to open in the middle of March."
Thomas also revealed that the film will get a wider theatrical release than previously anticipated thanks to a decision by Warner Bros, although how many theatres is yet to be determined.
"There are smart ways to do a movie of this size — and we chose none of them. We are a low budget movie with big set pieces and 60 speaking roles. A murder mystery in a house would have been more cost effective. But I think we have managed to pull it off," added Thomas who is working on the film's special effects and soundtrack right now.
EW has an exclusive clip from the film, set at the eponymous Veronica Mars' ten year high school reunion which you can watch over on their site since embedding is a no-no.
