Vanity Dead At 57

Vanity has died. She was 57.

Vanity, whose real name was Denise Katrina Matthews, died in a Fremont, CA hospital on Monday. She had been diagnosed with an inflammation of the small intestines. She also had been battling kidney failure for years.

Vanity was a protégé of Prince and starred in "The Last Dragon" and "Action Jackson."

She originally was supposed to star with Prince in "Purple Rain" but she quit the band Vanity 6 before the film was made. She was replaced Apollonia, who led the group Apollonia 6.
