Vampire Weekend - Ya Hey - Lyrics Music Video
Vampire Weekend "Modern Vampires of the City" Album Cover Art
With mere days to go before the launch of Modern Vampires of the City, Vampire Weekend has released an official lyric music video for "Ya Hey," one of the leading tracks on the band's upcoming third album. Normally, I'm not too fazed by lyrics music videos. I usually just wait for an actual video, but Vampire Weekend is an exception because their lyrics are often esoteric, yet worth translating. Thus far, the tracks I've heard from this upcoming album are some of the band's finest tunes yet. You can check out the video for "Ya Hey" embedded below.
Some fans have speculated that "Ya Hey" is actually a play on "Yahweh," the hebrew name for God. I'd say that's correct, especially considering that "Diane Young," the lead single off of the album, is clearly intended to be decoded as "Dying Young."
Modern Vampires of the City debuts on May 14th.
