This is some really wonderful news. A doctor said this morning on NBC's Today Show that Valerie Harper's terminal cancer is close to remission.
The Today Show aired a preview of an upcoming special on Harper, in which the doctors says the change "defies the odds," but still cautioned the actress the status could change at any time. THR says "So what this news really means is that Harper has more time, during which period hopefully something better will come along."
Harper revealed she had terminal brain cancer in March. Leptomeningeal carcinomatosis is a disease in which cancer cells spread into the membrane surrounding the brain. Her physicians gave her three to six months to live when she was diagnosed Jan. 15. Prior to this, Harper beat lung cancer.
Valerie's Story - a Meredith Vieira Special, is set to air on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 10 p.m. It was reported earlier in the week that Harper could possibly be on of the contestants on the new season of Dancing with the Stars.
