V - Red Rain - Season Premiere Recap

When we last saw the Visitors, Anna had lost her temper and struggled with human emotion and took it out on the world by changing the sky red. The people of the world react predictably, panicking and rioting in the streets thinking it's the end of the world. Anna has put herself on human lockdown and refuses to give the humans any answers. Anna's people have been vocal about their suspicions that she's been compromised. She meets with a few of her captains to try and remind them that she is the Queen Bee and she will never give herself to human emotion. She kills one of the captains with her TAIL. Yikes. That is certainly one way to make a point. She kills her remaining soldiers because they're flawed but it hurts her to do so. The only one who sees through this is Marcus. What is he up to?

Ryan is held as a prisoner and escapes to try and see his daughter. They finally show us what his baby looks like and it is the creepiest freakiest thing ever. It's green, its reptilian and it does not look like any of Val's genes went on to that kid. Anna catches Ryan with the baby and kicks him off of the ship. The baby remains so that she can run as many tests on it as possible and use it as blackmail for Ryan in the future. Ryan goes back to Earth to rejoin his buddies in the Fifth Column.

Erica is struggling on her next move because of Anna's solitude. When Tyler gets hurt in a riot, she uses this as an excuse to get herself onto the ship to question Anna. Knowing that Anna would help heal Tyler, she hops a ride with him. As they're leaving, it starts to rain. Red rain. Everyone starts to panic because that's not something you see every day. Anna addresses the world to restore calm..and because Erica confronts her. She tells them that the red rain is healing their planet and will help things grow and repair global warming. We all know she's full of crap but she plays her cards well. She goes to see her mother played by special guest, Jane Badler.

The Fifth Column team go to visit a scientist that the Visitors know is getting dangerously close to uncovering the truth behind the red rain. It turns out that it's actually the assistant to the scientist who knows his stuff. A few years back he discovered a pit full of skeletons from 50 years ago. All were human but one. He had been running tests on it and in case you were wondering, it's a Visitor skeleton. SO CREEPY LOOKING. They decide to recruit the assistant for his brain..and probably his wit and looks. Or maybe that's just me that's enjoying them.

He helps them uncover that the red rain was actually large amounts of phosphorous. If you recall, phosphorous is what Val needed to sustain her alien pregnancy on Earth. The red rain is in fact a way to change the environment for alien breeding. This is not welcome news to Erica who drops a bomb about her past. When she was pregnant with Tyler, the nurse discovered unusually large amounts of phosphorous in her blood. Erica panics and starts to wonder if the V's experimented on her when she was pregnant with Tyler. I didn't see that one coming.

Chad returns to try and repent for being a total boob to everyone and goes to Jack and the church for forgiveness. He shows proof of the live aboard humans being tortured on the ship and wants to show the world. Jack urges him to calm down and use his brain for two seconds and instead, not completely blow his relationship with Anna. They ask him to turn spy for the Fifth Column. The Fifth Column up on the ship sure is losing members. It looks like Lisa is on her own. She goes to see Joshua who is alive (YAY!) but doesn't remember anything about anything. Not who he is, that he was in the Fifth Column or anything that could help Lisa. What does this mean for his questioning?

This premiere was AWESOME. I sure hope ABC decides to give the show a chance and not just cancel it after these 9 episodes. It has so much potential.
