Once Upon A Time - Spring Premiere Recap - New York City Serenade
When we last saw our favorite fairy tale characters, they were forced to say goodbye to both Emma and Henry, as well as the life they've come to know in Storybrooke. Sent home to the Enchanted Forest, the group must stay united to figure out their new lives together.
Read on for our recap of the Spring premiere of Once Upon A Time, season 3 episode 12: "New York City Serenade".
Phillip and Aurora, happily eating grapes and being in love, are quite surprised when a bunch of purple smoke comes their way and reveals their old friends have returned. Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin), Charming (Josh Dallas), Regina (Lana Parilla), everyone is home, and in their old wigs and clothes! What Aurora doesn't reveal is that they're terrified of a certain someone finding out what has just happened.
Regina agrees to return with Charming and Snow to their old castle and figure things out from there. Neal and Belle are determined to find Rumple, or whatever is left of him and that's the only mention of him we'll get in the entire episode. Snow and Regina, who are bonding over the pain of leaving their children behind, are attacked by creepy, terrifying, flying monkeys. Thankfully, they're saved by the cute Robin Hood. Good luck, Regina! She's going to need it. Our time in the Enchanted Forest ends as the group discovers someone else is in the castle, and has a protection spell around it.
A year later in New York City sees Emma (Jennifer Morrison) making pancakes, and Henry (Jared Gilmore) happily eating them. For them, nothing has changed. Except Henry's voice. Emma is dating a new guy named Walsh (guest star Chris Gorham), and has been proposed to. Imagine her surprise when a gorgeous pirate in leather shows up at her door to convince her of a wild and crazy tale. When it's clear that his jewels are in danger because Emma doesn't believe him, he gives her the address to Neal's old apartment in the hopes of changing her mind.
Inside, Emma finds a camera with Henry's name on it. Thinking this is all impossible, she has Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) arrested and force-fed bologna. After seeing "old" pictures of herself and Henry, along with plane tickets, Emma is forced to consider what Hook is saying. She agrees to drink a potion that will bring back her memories and we're back on track.
Sadly, Emma has to break off her relationship with Walsh and he is not happy about it. So much so, that his eyes turn red and he turns into one of those crazy, flying monkeys! Didn't see that coming.
Hook, Emma, and Henry are heading back to Storybrooke after learning that a new curse has been cast on our friends. Wait, they're back?? Already? I've come to dread the Enchanted Forest flashbacks so I was really looking forward to seeing how things were in "present day".
Either way, David opens the door and is shocked to see his daughter standing there. They have almost all of their memories. The last year has been wiped clean for them and they have no idea what has happened. The only reason they know any time has passed is because Snow is very, very pregnant.
