UK X Factor could be postponed until January 2012

This is actually a good idea to postpone the UK version of The X Factor to January 2012. However, it will change the schedule of ITV fundamentally.

American Idol survived without Simon Cowell on the panel, so The X Factor in the UK might survived without him as well. But if they could delay the show a few months to accommodate him, I think they should do it.

The U.S. version of The X Factor better be worth it for Simon Cowell!

Bosses are apparently considering delaying the British edition after it was reported Cowell would miss this year's series as it is set to clash with the brand new American version.

Added to which, fresh reports have emerged that Cheryl Cole is a 'definite' for a judging spot on the show so with two of the key judges out.

Despite being desperate to hold onto Cowell and Cole for the UK show though – for which auditions kicked off earlier this month- ITV bigwigs fear it will mess up the entire TV schedule.

ITV is looking at a range of options to keep Cheryl and Simon. But changing dates would play havoc with ITV's schedule and the auditions have already begun.
