Ugly Betty - The Butterfly Effect - Recap

(Here's Noelle's recap of the season premiere of Ugly Betty "The Butterfly Effect". Betty's back!)
Ugly Betty is back! FINALLY. And we get a 2 hour premiere. We last left Betty after she broke up with her boyfriend Matt and he positioned himself in an ulitmate spot for revenge by becoming her new boss. Christina left Mode and moved away so Betty is pretty much alone at work and needs all the friends she can get. Her new office-mate is not going to be one of them. Her name is Megan and you can add her to the list of people who want to take Betty down. Also on that list is Marc, who's a bitterbert about losing his potential new job to Betty and has made it his mission to get rid of her. Meanwhile, everyone's hiding something, from Wilhelmina to Justin. Secrets=Drama and that's why I love this show.
Daaaaang. Hilda is rocking some hot pink booty shorts. I can't believe she just had a baby because she's lookin hot. It's Justin's first day of highschool and I guess hot pink runs in the family. Showing up in a pink shirt from Gucci is not going to make him fast friends with most of the guys. Some jerks bully him around and he can't fight back. Personally I'd kick them in the peanuts and then become Justin's bff but that's just me. He gets into arguments with his mom who "doesn't understand him." I don't understand her. Her earrings are huge and they're seriously distracting. She thinks creating a fake person on a facebook type website and friending Justin is gonna help. Newsflash. It's not.
Wilhelmina has been hiding her often out of the picture daughter Nico. Willie's cliffhanger from last season is revealed to be Nico showing up covered in blood asking for help. Unfortunately it wasn't her hot australian ex boyfriend Connor. Sadness. Turns out Nico tried to defend herself against an abusive boyfriend and you know..accidentally killed him. That's quite a big problem. But Mama Wilhelmina is there to save the day and try and protect her from the big bad copper who's asking questions. Nico's fake alibi includes a Gilmore Girls marathon. Nice! It's lovely when family can spend time together like that.
Whoa hello there. Matt got really hot and he's rockin a new haircut. He kinda looks like a younger brother to Josh Groban. However, the sexy haircut does not make up for the douchery he's giving Betty. He's making sure that her time at Mode will not be a pleasant one. I'm serious. She just almost killed Marc with a walnut. I assume he's allergic and it was completely accidental. Ahem. Daniel's back and he's got a beard. Betty has to go save him from security at an airport. His wife dying is really rattling him. He spends the majority of this episode freaking out and beating the crap out of inanimate objects. He needs someone and Betty's there for him and she's bringing chinese food and Scrabble... even if it costs her problems at work. Which it does. Just as she makes progress with Matt and Megan and seems like she's fitting in, she gets thrown two steps back. Always ends up like that doesn't it?
However, now Betty has to gravel and ask them all for help at Mode. She ends up arguing with Matt who acts like a total douche and says some really disrespectful things. Daniel overhears and punches the crap out of Matt. Hate to say it Matty but you deserved that one. Betty agrees. She decides that the time is right to finally take some new initiative. The result? Betty gets a makeover! The braces aren't gone yet but she's got new glasses and a new hairdo. She's got the same eccentric style just a little reinvented. I think she's gonna look gorgeous once the braces are gone and she stops with the bright socks with the open toed shoes, because I really can't stand looking at either one.
