Ugly Betty - Smokin Hot - Recap

It's Fashion Week on Ugly Betty and the crazy outfits are coming out from all corners of New York. Betty, Marc and Amanda are looking to prove themselves with this golden opportunity in spite of the bickering and dishonesty going around. Daniel is once again proving what a goof he is, while Claire's son Tyler makes a surprise appearance at Mode. The claws are out ABC. Let another fantastic episode commence.
Fashion week, besides being a time where scary outfits are considered art, is a prime situation for new editors like Marc and Betty to strut their stuff off the runway. Betty is saddened to learn that she has only been given an opportunity to cover a fashion show because of Daniel. This might be shocking news but not everyone at Mode is in love with Betty's fashion sense. Who knew? Betty decides to prove them wrong and sets her radar on an unknown designer whom she wants to make a star. She convinces Marc to help her get Wilhelmina to agree to allow the designer in the big show but Marc accidentally ends up taking all the credit. Oops. Thou shalt not piss off Miss Suarez.
Helen is still living with Amanda and Marc and still creating chaos everywhere she turns. She's a hot mess. Partially redeeming herself at least in Amanda's eyes, she takes a curtain and is able to create a sassy new dress for Amanda. Light bulb! Amanda thinks they work well together and they should become a design team. Project Runway here they come? Unfortunately, no one else seems to agree and her ideas are not pitched for consideration in the show. Amanda's life dream for just about a week is now gone. Speaking of new dreams, Daniel is modeling in the show and practicing by walking like Zoolander. Oy. Secondhand embarrassment to the max.
Also a surprise model is Tyler. Claire's son makes a surprise appearance at Mode and becomes an instant target for male model once Willie checks out his abs and tush. Do we blame her? I know I don't. If anything i'm angry the show is ending before we can see more of him. Anyway, Claire's hot son is now modeling in the show. He's wandering around in his plaid running into everyone from Daniel, who has no idea who he is yet, to Claire who he finally confronts about her trip to South Dakota. They share a happy-tears-of-joy-moment and agree to keep things a secret for awhile. That's gonna go over big with Daniel.
Back in Queens, Hilda is worried about her Salon business tanking. She's not making the kind of money she would like and wishes out loud it would get struck by lightning so she could collect the insurance money. Uhoh. Bobby heard that. And surprise surprise, before you know it the salon is on fire. Oh noes! All of the new designer's dresses are inside. Did Bobby really have a hand in this? Or will Hilda just accuse him giving him an excuse to leave?
Amanda helps salvage the dresses with her sassy style and ends up saving the day. Wilhelmina approves. Amanda's a stylist bitches! Overall the dresses look pretty good. I just can't get over why a rock star studded belt that looks like it came from Hot Topic is added to every outfit. The dresses make a splash on the runway, minus Daniel who realizes how ridiculous he looks. He's not 25 anymore but that's okay. You still look great to us Daniel.
