Tyler Farr Comments On 'That's My Kind of Night' Controversy
Tyler Farr has said a few words regarding the current controversy raging country music: Zac Brown's criticisms of Luke Bryan's hit single 'That's My Kind of Night'.
To summarize, a few country stars have gone on record decrying the state of country music, most notably Zac Brown, who also said (when asked) that Luke Bryan‘s ‘That’s My Kind of Night’ was the worst country song ever. Jason Aldean said on Instagram that nobody gives a sh** what he thinks, backing up his friend Luke. Dallas Davidson, a co-writer on the song, asked Zac to respect his creativity on Twitter, and then went on record in a full interview saying he was hurt by Zac's comments.
Now, Tyler Farr is weighing in (since when did it become everybody's business?). He told Taste of Country, "If someone asked me their opinion honestly … you know if Lee [Brice] came to me and asked me … I’ve been honest with him. And I expect him to do the same with me. But I would only give me two cents where it was asked of."
Feeling that it wasn't necessarily Zac's place to say (although Zac was asked specifically), Tyler also made it clear that he thinks not every country song is designed to be something deep and meaningful.
"There’s certain songs that you’re gonna record that you hope to touch people and change lives, and there’s certain songs that you know that are not going to be that serious. ‘Honky Tonk Badonkadonk’ wasn’t some serious song, but it was huge! It was funny. I don’t take everything so serious," he said.
Hmm. What do you guys think of Tyler's comments?
