The CW is building up its Justice League. First was the Clark Kent/Superman-centric Smallville, followed by the Green Arrow-focused drama Arrow. Now, The CW is moving forward with The Flash.

Two more actors have been added to the cast of the pilot, currently in development: Rick Cosnett will play Detective Eddie Thawne, while Danielle Panabaker will star as Caitlin Snow. Both should be characters of significance to DC Comics fans.

Further details via HitFix, going off of a story from Deadline, who initially broke news of the casting:

"Eddie Thawne" appears to be the show's take on "Eobard Thawne," Barry Allen's archrival Professor Zoom. "Caitlin Snow" is the latest version of DC villain Killer Frost, who debuted in the "Killer Frost" one-shot as part of Sept. 2013's "Villains Month."

Deadline describes Eddie Thawne as, "a recent transfer to the Central City Police Department, whose past is a mystery and who harbors a dark secret;" and Caitlin Snow as, "a highly intelligent bioengineering expert who lost her fiancé during an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs."

"We're using a lot of mythology, a lot of characters from the comics in the development of the 'Flash' show," DC Entertainment chief creative officer and former "Flash" comic book writer Geoff Johns said in December. "I don't want to get too specific yet, but you'll see a lot of characters, a lot of elements from that. It's very much 'The Flash.'"

Cosnett recently appeared on The Vampire Diaries as Dr. Wes Maxfield, while Panabaker has been on a variety of shows recently, from Necessary Roughness to Bones.

Cosnett and Panabaker join series lead Grant Gustin, who first appeared as Barry Allen/The Flash a two-episode arc on Arrow last month, and Jesse L. Martin, recently cast in the role of Detective West.

The Flash is fighting for a spot on the schedule next season at The CW, and with each bit of news, the show's prospects seem sunnier than before. The series also has a healthy pedigree behind it: aforementioned comics writer Geoff Johns will write the script for executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg (Arrow), while Arrow pilot helmer David Nutter will direct. Here's hoping the show gets a shot at success!
