The Top 40 Songs of 2012 - #16-11

16. Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen

Hey I just met you, and this is crazy, so....yeah you know the song. The song that was every where. #1 almost everywhere. Bigger than songs by Justin Bieber, who signed her. Yeah, that's Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe." Enough said.

15. Beez in the Trap - Nicki Minaj feat. 2 Chainz

Believe it or not, it's been a rough year for Nicki Minaj. I'm pretty sure her second era wasn't all as expected. She did deliver some bangers though. A lot of critics were unimpressed with the lyrical content of "Beez in The Trap" but it was wonderfully produced, Nicki gave us clever lyrics, and it was fun! I beez in the....never mind.

14. No Lie - 2 Chainz feat. Drake

With assistance from Drake, 2 Chainz really came into form this year with his single "No Lie." We still don't understand what he is saying, or how he comes up with these odd lyrics? Or does that even matter anymore? No Lie was certified Platnium and reached #24. It was hard between this and "Birthday Song," but I thought I would keep it less wacky.

13. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

Taylor Swift surprises me every year. Some how she just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and more & more successful. Of course she would continue her winning trends with the lead single from Red, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." Experimenting with pop more than ever before, it certainly paid off. Bubblegum pop, pop rock, pop country or whatever, Swift makes everything her own, including this #1 single.

12. Put It Down - Brandy feat. Chris Brown

Brandy came back, and she came back strong in 2012. This was mostly due to her banging lead single, "Put It Down," which featured a rap verse from Chris Brown. If only we were back in '05 and this song would have went multi-platinum and topped the charts. For what its worth, Put It Down became a radio staple. I mean how could you get the hook out of your head? "I'ma put it down, you gon' fall in love!" Kicking bass, swagged out Brandy = killer song.

11. Your Body

One of the biggest musical shames of the year was the fact that Christina Aguilera did not debut at #1 on the Billboard with "Your Body." Electro-pop would-be smash with hints of R&B. On key vocals. What wasn't there to love about this song? That question has yet to be answered. In fact, Aguilera's "Not Myself Tonight" charted higher than "Your Body." This musical mystery will never be solved, so until then, bask in the greatness that was Christina Aguilera's "Your Body."
