'Sopranos' Creator Finally Confirms if Tony Soprano Survived That Finale

Remember that ambiguous Sopranos finale that left everyone wondering what happened to the mob family?

Well, creator David Chase has finally answered those lingering questions. Specifically if Tony Soprano survived after everything faded to black.

In an interview with Vox, Chase angrily answered the question: did Tony die?

We were in a tiny coffee shop, when, in the middle of a low-key chat about a writing problem I was having, I popped the question. Chase startled me by turning toward me and saying with sudden, explosive anger, “Why are we talking about this?” I answered, “I’m just curious.” And then, for whatever reason, he told me. [...]

He shook his head “no.” And he said simply, “No he isn’t.” That was all.

So there you have it folks, the ambiguous ending is not so ambiguous. Tony Soprano is alive and well. Or at least alive.

And it only took seven years to get an answer.
