The Tomorrow People - Episode 7 - Recap - Limbo

The CW delivers another installment of The Tomorrow People tonight, continuing the adventures of a bunch of super handsome superpowered teens as they fight the most cartoonishly evil paramilitary organization ever, Ultra. Cara and Stephen's dumb thing from last week seems to be a one-off. Her handsome off-again-on-again boyfriend apologizes with a small gift. Cara breaks down and tell John about when she slept with Stephen. Cara also admits that Stephen's obvious feelings for her are not entirely one-sided, but she understands the need for harmony in the team trumps her desire to bone down with Stephen.

High school drama finally returns this week!! I'm so excited! Stephen starts to use his powers to cheat at basketball in gym class. But then, oops, coach wants Stephen on the varsity team!! Wuh oh! This is some serious 80s teen comedy stuff right here (Astrid commented on this in the episode after I wrote this!!) and I love it. Then, the basketball team needs a place to throw the big pre-game party.Conveniently, Mrs. Stephen's Mom is on the night shift. Then, the party gets bigger than he expects (thanks to Twitter) and his new teammates get him drunk and then a hot girl makes out with him and it's all this big teen comedy thing condensed into one scene. I love this and want the whole show to be it. The whole thing is interrupted by the threat of police. Stephen accidentally reads Astrid's mind and learns she's in love with him, shock of the century. After everyone is gone, Jedikiah shows up and slaps a power-suppressant cuff on Stephen. Whoops! No powers with which to win the big game! Also nothing to help clean up. The cuff won't come off, but John volunteers to help Stephen cheat with his powers. Of course, since Stephen banged Cara, all Stephen's telekinetic baskets are scored via slapstick folly. They get in a dumb fistfight after the game about it, but Cara shows up to put an end to it.

On top of all this other drama, there's a violent Tomorrow Guy on the loose sexually assaulting young women, and it's up to our subway crew to track him down. Well, it's also up to Ultra I guess. Uncle Jedikiah puts the stressed out Stephen on leave, though, after his partner's death last episode. John and Russell and Cara track the guy down and prevent his next assault, but he ports out before they can get a telepathic fix on him. Later, Stephen stumbles upon a clue that puts the whole mystery together for him. They have trouble tracking this guy because he's been taking woman to the sewer. Stephen finds him and gets his ass kicked, since he's got the wristband on at this point. The rest of his outlaw pals show up and subdue the guy, who threw knocked-out Stephen face down into some water. Stephen has to take full credit for the capture when Jedikiah debriefs him, but he gets the wristband off and is placed back on active duty.

I'm glad this episode finally had a big focus on the high school stuff! More of that please! It's so much better than the Ultra stuff. Even the action scenes can't compete with a good teen drama! I want more goofy shenanigans! Check out the preview below!
